Main Ranch Features

With plenty of natural water, a variety of terrain, and multiple outbuildings it's difficult to quantify the true potential in this property and the feeling of stepping out your front door to be greeted by a sweeping Rocky Mountain vista in every season.

view of the ranch house and yard

In spring the pastures turn a lush green, the trees begin to bud, and the creeks brim with fresh snowmelt. In summer the wildflowers are out in full force, drawing in deer, elk, and bear from the surrounding wilderness. In autumn the birch blazes gold and orange, blanketing the surrounding hills with true fall hues. In winter everything turns a clean white with several feet of snow which under blue-skied days shimmers like diamonds.

  • Mountain Views

Local "Red Chief Mountain" dominates the view unobscured from the house, front deck, pond, and front pastures. The mountains spread out from there, especially visible down at the riverfront where nearly 360º views of the valley peaks encompass you. In the summertime the mountains funnel in fantastic thunderstorms that boom throughout the valley.

  • River Front

The property encompasses a wide swath of the Blaeberry River which is fed from glaciers further up the valley. The meandering teal blue fingers of the river change throughout the seasons, and provide many flat rocky spots for fire-pits, picnicking, or camping. The chilly water is swimmable in the summer for the brave, and you can even coordinate the local rafting company to drop you off at your house from further up the river!

  • 1260+ sq.ft Home

The main home has 4 bedrooms and one bath, including a large basement bedroom and plenty of partially-finished space to build additional bedrooms, bonus rooms, or to utilize as storage. There's a living room with a cozy brick fireplace, elevated dining room, kitchen with spacious island and sliding glass doors to a back deck, and an additional attached screened-in-porch room. A small garden and greenhouse wrap around the side, and multiple fire-pit gathering spots rest on the lawns.

  • Year Round Creek

A year round creek runs through the property as well as multiple natural springs and streams. As water becomes more and more of a concern for many people it's truly an asset to have a property with fresh spring water and a robust well!

  • Four Pastures

The property has four large fully fenced grass pastures and a fifth alfalfa pasture that could be fenced if desired. There is plenty of space for a solid rotational grazing plan for livestock or horses, or, let the pastures grow out into beautiful meadows for additional cabins, horseback riding, or hiking.

  • Trout Pond

Close to the main house a year-round creek feeds into a long idyllic trout pond deep enough for swimming, canoeing, relaxing in the sun on a raft, or fishing out stocked trout. No-maintenance water access for horses or livestock. In the winter it freezes over for skating and hockey!

  • Sauna, gazebo

Set in the forest alongside a year-round creek is a spacious steel-roofed gazebo with central fire pit perfect for gatherings, parties, pot-lucks, or camping. Also near the creek and close to a rock fish ladder and small dipping pool is a sauna cabin with wood-fired stove and rocks, wood seating, a small central room and sleeping loft.

  • Barn, corral, squeeze

Near the top of the property set away from the main house is a large three-section barn which can be used for hay storage or set up with stalls and pens. Connected to it is a fully wall-fenced paddock and chute with bison squeeze at the end and a series of paddocks in the fenced pasture beyond. You could ranch livestock, convert the barn for horses, or turn it into something else entirely…

The guest cottage and 1.5 acre parcel of land it resides on is adjacent to the main ranch, and serves as a buffer from the nearest road. The main ranch owns the driveway from the road to the property and the guest cottage has an easement to use the driveway as well. We managed this property as a popular vacation rental for hundreds of visitors to our valley over the years.

buffalo herd $30,000 sold

Update: The bison herd has been sold, and is no longer part of this package!

The bison herd, from which the ranch derives its name, has been sold to a new owner. The ranch is still in prime position to accommodate livestock in its several fenced pastures and infrastructure of paddocks, barn, natural springs, etc. The property would be an especially great fit for horses.
